You have 3 homes in which you live, that you must look after:
- The earth
- Your body
- Your mind
All 3 form your overall environment.
These environments are the foundations of your health, happiness, well-being and overall performance.
I'd like to think we are all becoming more aware of the earth and the need to do our bit (I hope so anyway!). But with the mind and body, I'm still not so sure.....
As the saying goes:-
“Today’s solutions have created tomorrow's problems”.
As life has progressed with things such as technology and science, there’s no doubt that we’ve actually moved further away from the basics of looking after our overall environment.
Our stress levels are higher than ever, the daily demands we face are higher than ever, our overall health is poor and our homes are in need of some care and attention.
We must address this straight away and return back to basics.
These basics do not come in the form of an app, an email, a social media platform, the latest reality TV show or the latest fast food outlet.
So what do they actually look like?
They are about reconnecting with nature by getting fresh air, sunlight, and exposure to cold (it’s good for you!), rather than spending all day inside in a temperature controlled room making us susceptible to chronic illness and fatigue.
They are about training your body to be mobile, fast and strong, rather than sitting down all the time becoming stiff, achy and slow.
They are about teaching your mind to be focused, resilient, and disciplined, whilst also remaining calm, controlled and able to ‘switch off’ and have fun. Rather than a slave to your smart phone, anxious and always on the go.
Life should be fun, and our environments healthy and happy. We only get 1 of each of them – and we must prioritise and look after them.
Today, make the decision to get the basics done well - and as always, attack the week.
