I’ve been writing these weekly emails (as hopefully you know!!) for a few years now.
You can see some of the previous editions I have written on my
website here (scroll to the bottom of the page).
But this is the first time I’ve
ever given them a name.
So moving forwards, these weekly emails will be known as The Lonely Walk Letters.
It’s a name that comes from a situation I know well.
And that is the walk to the ring to face combat.
A fighter who I was working with had previously talked to me about the walk to the ring.
Crowd screaming, lights flashing, cameras rolling.
But none of
that really bothered him too much.
However, inside his head.
He was already beaten:
- Nerves
- Doubt
- Pressure
- His self-talk had betrayed him when he needed it most
He was exhausted before the fight had even begun.
And ultimately, he went on to lose his fight that night and lose badly.
He said to me that walking to the ring was the loneliest walk in the
world.
Because despite having a team.
Despite fans cheering his name.
When it really mattered, he was completely alone.
Nobody else could have that fight for him.
It was all on him.
That’s what these letters are about.
They are not motivation.
They are not just a bunch of quotes.
They are the real, raw truth behind high
performance.
Mentally, physically, emotionally.
Every week, I will continue to write to you (unless you tell me otherwise) with a short article about something I believe really matters:
- Your mindset under pressure
- How to stay sharp when life piles on
- The science behind performance and recovery
- What it really takes to lead yourself first
- The difference between discipline and burnout
- And how to
build your personal code
There won’t be any fluff.
No bullsh*t.
Just my straight talking coaching insights from 25+ years of walking the walk in gyms, boardrooms, fight corners, and coaching calls.
If you’re the kind of person who’s out there trying to hold it all together but also knows that you can go further…..
If you’re looking to improve your body, sharpen your mind, and get real
results.....
Then this is the place for you.
It’s time to keep reading.
But it’s also time to stop talking and start doing.
Welcome to The Lonely Walk Letters.
And attack the week!
