We’ve talked about the outcomes you will get when you join MAPPS.
Discipline - which is your engine.
Control - is your hands on the wheel.
But here’s the question…..
What’s guiding you?
What road are you even on?
Because it doesn’t matter how fast your plane is flying, if it’s heading in the wrong direction?!
That’s where your PERSONAL CODE comes
in.
Most people never stop to define it.
Instead, they live by moods, emotions, and “I feel like” rather than standards.
They do what feels good in the moment, then wonder why life is chaotic.
But without a personal code, you’re rudderless.
And when life smashes you in the mouth, which at some point it 100% will.
You’ve got nothing to turn to, to keep you in check.
I’ve seen this so many times throughout my career:
- In sport: the talented
lads who bottled it under pressure.
- In business: the clever ones who never followed through.
- In life: the good men who gave up on themselves.
Not because they weren’t capable.
But because they didn’t have a personal code.
You see - your personal code is your compass.
It’s the rules you play by, especially when nobody’s watching.
It’s the line in the sand you refuse to cross.
For me, it’s simple things:
- Turn up on time.
- Do
what I said I’d do.
- Put my family first.
- Lead by example.
And when I’ve broken my code?
Every single time, even in a small way (these things add up quickly)……
It’s cost me.
In business.
In performance.
In respect (both internally and externally).
The harsh truth is this:
Motivation fades.
Discipline sometimes wobbles.
Control gets tested.
But your personal code?
That lasts.
Because it’s not about
how you feel.
It’s about WHO YOU ARE.
(Read that again^^^).
And once you define it properly, everything else gets clearer.
So, here’s my challenge to you this week:
Have a go at writing down your personal code.
You don’t have to write a shopping list.
Not fifty things.
Simply write three to five non-negotiables.
Then live by it.
Day in, day out.
It won’t be perfect to start with,
but habits soon build.
Because without a personal code, you’re just guessing.
Speak soon,
Ric
P.S. In under two weeks we’ve got the Farmer Strong day.
A group of men coming together to train, graft, mastermind, listen to guest speakers, test themselves, and yes to define their own personal code.
