This week I want to talk to you about the next step in your MAPPS journey.
Last Saturday 11th October, we launched MAPPS at Farmer Strong.
The sun was out - unbelievably!!
Over 25 guys turned up not for therapy or a pat on the back, but to push their boundaries and test themselves.
Straight talking, and no
fluff.
Doing the work, breaking bread together, training hard and recovering well.
So far, I’ve talked to you about 2 of the 3 outcomes you will achieve when you join MAPPS.
Discipline - which is your engine and is earned through doing the reps daily.
Control - your hands on
the steering wheel, repeatable under pressure, instead of winging it.
The 3rd one….
And it’s not flashy:
CLARITY.
Clarity is knowing exactly what you’re building and why it matters on a grim evening when no one’s watching.
It’s not endless journaling or pretty mind maps.
It’s
decisions.
Boundaries.
Standards.
It’s knowing your direction, clearly.
I’ve previously mentioned motivation a lot.
The truth is that most people don’t lack or require more motivation.
They need precision and clarity.
Vague goals just blur the lines.
They’re often nothing more than word salad.
“Get fitter” isn’t a
target, it’s you trying to convince yourself, whilst also making excuses for yourself.
Instead, what about:
- 12 weeks, 10kg down.
- 3 strength sessions per week.
- 8 hours of sleep per
night.
- No alcohol Sun - Thu.
- Check-in every Friday (on your MAPPS app cough cough).
Now the work you are going to do is structured.
Your actions are either moving you towards or away from what you say you want to achieve.
No grey
areas.
After 26 years around world champions, as well as a bunch of nearly men, here’s the difference, and it is not talent:
The best know exactly what they want to achieve, and what they’re willing to sacrifice to do it.
READ THAT AGAIN^^^
They are crystal clear on their “north star”, and you must be clear on yours.
So if you’ve been stuck recently, then here’s some
tips for you today:
KISS - in one sentence. “I’m cutting 10kg by 20th January.” If you can’t say it simply, you won’t live it consistently.
Be clear on the work required - three non-negotiables you’ll do daily. Not ten, just three. Do them whether you feel like it or not.
Ruthlessly
sacrifice - what has got to go, so your goals can happen? Late nights? Weekend booze? Time wasting activities (such as scrolling)?
Write it down.
Own it.
Do it.
Tracking - put at least one weekly tracking system in place (also in MAPPS app cough cough) that tells the truth and deals in facts rather than feelings. Photos, a time on the
track, a number in the bank, calls booked, whatever you’re tracking, as the saying goes “if you’re not assessing, you’re guessing”.
Clarity is ruthless because it forces you to cut away the nonsense.
Friends may call you boring, some might even call you obsessed.
Good!!
This is your journey not theirs, and you don’t require validation from anybody. You might also consider being around people
on the same journey as you, but I will leave that one there for today (or maybe I won’t).
Just like the men who showed up at Farmer Strong who absolutely smashed it - I’m proud of you.
That room proved what matters: community, accountability, standards, and as we’ve talked about today - clarity.
Because in this crazy fast world of non-stop distractions.
Clarity will ensure that you keep heading in the right
direction.
Attack the week.
